MUS ED 4133/5133 RockShop! Modern Band Workshop

This course will provide teachers with the tools and resources to bring student-centered, culturally responsive, and inclusive music education to students. The RockShop Modern Band Workshop is designed to teach the skills, curriculum, and network to successfully run a modern band program at any grade level or music classroom. Modern band is a new, school-based music program that utilizes popular music as its central repertoire. Styles that are studied include Rock, Pop, Reggae, Hip-Hop, Rhythm & Blues, Electronic Production, and other contemporary styles as they emerge. Teachers learn to play electric guitar, electric bass, ukulele, keyboard, drum-set and electronic musical instruments.
