This endorsement is offered in conjunction with the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) MA program. Courses are designed using the Quality Matters set of professional standards based upon research, best practices and national standards for course design.

Knowledge of Linguistics
TESOL 5120 Introduction to Linguistics
TESOL 6510 Second Language Acquisition
Knowledge of Pedagogy
TESOL 6286 Studies in ESL Practicum
LANG 5740 Approaches to Language Learning and Teaching
TESOL 5760 Principles and Practices in Language Teaching
Knowledge of Cultural and Linguistic Diversity
TESOL 6289 Seminar in Language: Bilingualism and Bilingual Education
TESOL 5520 Cultural Aspects of Language and Language Teaching
Documentation of supervised teaching at both the K-6 and 7-12 levels is also required for the ESL endorsement.
Convenient course delivery
Courses are offered using a combination of Zoom, a video conferencing system, and eLearning, a Blackboard eLearning management system. Courses meeting in the fall and spring semesters are taught in eight-week modules on Thursday evenings.
