The University of Northern Iowa is accepting applications for its Master of Arts in Education degree in Literacy Education beginning in the fall of 2016. This program is designed to develop and extend the expertise of educators in both leadership and classroom positions who wish to specialize in the area of literacy education. Students examine theories, programs and practices in the teaching of literacy, the evaluation of literacy development and the integration of literacy across curricular areas.
“The strength of our master’s program in Literacy Education can be seen in three distinct areas: the quality of coursework we provide which leads to a Reading Specialist K-12 endorsement, the expertise of our faculty across various aspects of literacy learning and research, and the distance delivery model that provides convenient access to our program through online instruction and includes consistent face-to-face interactions through Adobe Connect and Zoom video conferencing,” said Deborah Tidwell, program coordinator.
Courses in this program are offered via interactive video conferencing methods (including Adobe Connect) on Tuesdays during fall and spring semesters. Some courses and coursework are offered online using eLearning.
